Valentin Stefanov was born on 7th June 1960 in Sevlievo of Bulgaria, where he also finished his first main studies. In 1979, he graduated from the Musical school of Rousse. In 1986, he graduated from the Music Academy of Sofia.
From 1982 to 1988, he worked as the artistic director of various musical ensembles in Sofia, Kjustendil and Berkovitsa. From 1988 to 1990, he worked as a conductor in the Musical Theatre of Sofia, as the director of the Academic Choir of Sofia and as a professor of music in the Drama and Music University of Sofia.
In 1990 he came to Greece and he takes over the post that he has till now, the artistic conduction of 'Armonia' choir of Preveza. Conducted by Stefanov, the choir has been awarded many prizes in the following competitions:
- 1992: 1st prize in folklore category and silver medal in the category of mixed choirs in the International Choir Festival of Athens.
- 1993: 3rd prize and bronze medal in the I.C.F. of Cantonigros in Spain.
- 1994: a silver and two bronze medals in the I.C.F. of Athens.
- 1995: 3rd prize and bronze medal in the I.C.F. “G. P. da Palestrina” in Roma, Italy.
- 1996: 1st prize in the I.C.F. of Dobrich of Bulgaria.
- 1996: Gold, silver and bronze medal in the I.C.F. of Athens.
- 1998: 1st prize in folklore category and two silver medals in the I.C.F. of Rhodes.
- 2000: Gold, silver and bronze medal in the I.C.F. of Athens. Two 1st prizes in the categories of Mixed and of Chamber choirs. It was also elected as the best Greek Choir for the year of 2000.
- 2001: 2nd prize in the I.C.F. of Montreaux of Switzerland.
- 2003, 2nd reward in the National Choir Competition 'Mikes Theodorakis' of Nafpaktos
- 2003, 1st reward in the in the interpretation of folklore in the International Choral Festival I.C.H.F.M.R of Vlachovo Brezi (Czech Republic).
- 2005, 3rd reward in the National Choir Competition "Mikes Theodorakis" of Nafpaktos
- 2008, Bronze medal in International Choral Festival of Rimini (Italy)
From 1994 till now, Val. Stefanov has been the artistic director of the mixed choir of the “Lykion Ellinidon” in Ioannina and has given concerts with them in the I.C.F. of Loreto in Italy, in Portugal and Bulgaria. At the same time, he’s also been a professor of the Municipal Conservatory of Ioannina.
From 1998 till now, he’s been the artistic director of the choir of the music society “Orpheus” of Agrinio and they have won the 2nd prize in the 1st I.C.F. “M. Theodorakis” of Nafpaktos in 2001.
